I Remember and at the same time, forgot!

From a certain Keeks clinic a few years back during some video analysis......

There was a clip of a goal that was scored right off of the faceoff because the goalie relaxed and didn't think much of it.

Well....low and behold.....I'm playing my regular Wednesday league game against the first place team. We are tied 1-1 and I have had a great game and my team has played very well in front of me, not perfect but enough that I was able to see the shots and make the correct save choices.

However, with 7.5 seconds on the clock and the faceoff at centre ice, I completely relaxed leaning on the post thinking, "great! we get a point for the tie which will put us in second place!".

Guess what happened next?

during the faceoff scramble which was completely obstructed by defenseman and their players, the gent at the faceoff dot wins it and quickly turned and just ripped a slapper off of my left post and in.

Yes....The puck had eyes....no question. But the problem was, my eyes were not on the puck.

I felt like Vesa Toskala after a drifter. I ruined a great performance and lost a point for my team. Never again will I relax at any point during the game.

I've learned my lesson. However, I'm certain that I am not the only one something like this has happened to......
